It was great coming back and seeing so many familiar faces as well as new students to our
school. The 2008-2009 school year will be exciting and productive. The children will observe, explore,
use a hands-on approach, and participate with scientific experiments. The kindergarten children
are presently involved with studying the needs of plants to live and thrive, life cycles, plant parts and
adaptation of plants. My first graders began their science program studying animal diversity, what are
insects, how animals grow, butterflies and frogs. The second grade children began their journey into
living vs. non-living, physical properties of rocks, components of soil, erosion, and deposition. The
children are excited, thrilled, and very enthusiastic in their scientific explorations. I look forward to a
wonderful fun-filled year with our future scientists!
