As the school year opens, we should be aware of how our children spend their time. For many of them, being connected hours each day to face book, twitter, games, cell phones, the internet and texting can distract them from developing socially and intellectually.
We need to monitor how our children are using technology and how many hours each day they spend using it. As always, talking to our children about their activities both in and out of school is the best way to find out about their interests. Although we are all busy, some time should be given to “family talk” each day to keep lines of communication open. Knowing how your child spends his time is a great way to help him/her develop new interests and relationships.
