Our Community

Our school community is excitingly diverse and multicultural consisting of many Hispanic and Bengali students as well as students from a variety of other Asian, African, South American, Central American, and Caribbean countries. With our diverse population we have more than twenty different languages spoken by our students and staff and almost half of our students are English language learners. We appreciate the support of our Parent Teacher Association and School Leadership Team members who volunteer in our school and who represent all our families as they begin to reach out to the many local businesses and organizations in our area to generate interest and support for our school. We also appreciate the support of the Education Departments of several local colleges including Queens College, Queensborough Community College and St. John's University as well as the support of Columbia University's Teachers College and Business School. Through our collaboration with Junior Achievement of America, local High School students gain teaching experience while assisting teachers and supporting students in our classrooms. We also greatly appreciate the ongoing support of the community officers of NYPD's 103rd precinct.

Our unique Early Childhood School is housed in two buildings side by side on 150th street in Jamaica directly across the street from Rufus King Historical Site and Park. We also have an off site annex which houses five of our kindergarten classes. We are happy to report that this year our annex will be moving to a school building only five blocks from our main site on the other side of Rufus King Park. It should also be noted that as our school only serves students in Pre K through Second Grade the majority of our students move together at the end of second grade to our sister school PS 86 on Parsons Boulevard which serves students from third through sixth grade.
