P233Q @ C.T.E.A.- Ms. Plotsker's Departmental Science Class

The students of VO1, VO2, and VO3 were learning about the circulatory system.  For the students to better understand the concept of blood, the teacher did two hands-on activities during a departmental lesson.  In order for the students to grasp the concept of the different parts of human's blood the students made "blood soup" using different types of food to represent the different parts of blood.  Once this activity was completed, the students also made "fake blood" to understand what blood looks like and to compare the difference between real blood and fake blood.  All three classes also completed both activities in small learning groups.  Picture modifications of the step by step directions were used to assist some of the students in acquiring an understanding of the lesson.

Kevyn uses the "blood soup" to create his fingerprint.

Clifton used cocoa powder and corn syrup to create the color and the correct consistency of blood.

Jabbar used his "fake blood" to create his fingerprint.

Daiquan, Lynda and Mohammed worked in a small group to create the mixtures for both parts of the project.
