P233Q is a multi-site New York City Public School. Part of District 75 Citywide Programs, P233 serves students in 12:1:4, 12:1:1, 8:1 and 6:1:1 ratios. The students represent all ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and they attend one of the school’s seven locations in Queens.
Each school site provides related services as mandated by the students’ IEPs. Services include speech, vision, hearing, occupational therapy, physical therapy and mobility training. Academic programming includes instruction based on modifications of the NYS standards, inclusion, community based instruction, vocational preparation, travel training, assistive technology, computer training, instructional mealtime, behavioral interventions, medical and special needs supports and assessment that includes input from parents and families.
The school also provides electives such as adaptive physical education, overnight camping, student government, parent and staff training opportunities. Curriculum is designed to facilitate maximum independence and normalization within the home, the school and the community.
