Welcome to the ELL program at PS 52. I am happy to be back and I look forward to working with your children this year.
The ELL program is a mandatory New York State requirement for students who are learning English language skills. Each child who is eligible for ELL services will receive instruction on a daily basis. Beginner and Intermediate level students will receive two periods of instruction each day, and Advanced level students will receive one period of instruction each day. Students are grouped by grade level and language proficiency.
The work being done in the ELL classroom supports the work being done in your child’s class. In addition to working on reading writing, listening, and speaking skills, your child will also receive content area instruction in Science, Social Studies, and Math. Instruction will be tailored to your child’s needs and I will be assessing their progress throughout the year.
If you have any questions about the ELL program or your child’s progress, please call me at 528-2238. I look forward to a great year!
