Welcome to Second Grade!
Dear Parents,
I would like to take this time to introduce myself and tell you a little about our class. I am Ms. Joseph and your child will have the wonderful opportunity of being part of a very special class this year. This year we will be planning, teaching, and learning a great deal of new things in all curriculum areas. We will also partake of several trips throughout NYC to explore our great city. Your children will benefit from a rich curriculum with academic rigor and consideration of each child's individual needs. We all hope to make this year a wonderful experience for everyone.
Please take a few minutes to review the following important information.
We start working the first day so it is important that your child have their supplies. Please check throughout the year that all supplies are refilled. Crayons are lost and glue gets used frequently. There is also a pencil bandit that comes back every year and mysteriously snatches pencils…….please be sure your child has 3 sharpened pencils daily. You can mark the pencils with initials or nail polish so they are more identifiable.
Dismissal is at 2:45pm sharp in the schoolyard. Please be on time…especially on rainy days. We do not want your child standing out in the rain waiting to be picked up.
We, at the school, are happy to celebrate your child’s birthday in school. Please let me know a week in advance so that I can plan for the special day.
Lunch is early in the day. The children will have snack time scheduled every afternoon at 1pm. Please send a healthy snack every day with your child……fruit, veggies, sandwich cheese and crackers… If you send it they will eat it.
Soda and candy are not allowed.
You can reach me daily during school hours through the school office, (718)528-2238. Please let the secretary know a best time and number for me to call you back.
There will be times during the school year that money will be collected for special events. All money should be sent to school in a sealed labeled envelope. It is important that you send the exact amount… It is difficult to make change.
Thank you for your assistance and I look forward to a wonderful and productive year with your child.
Sincerely,
Ms. F. Joseph
