Welcome to Second Grade!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to second grade at Public School 52! We are looking forward to a fantastic year with your child!

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and express our excitement about working with your child this year. Supply lists were sent home and we have already begun to use many items on the list. If you haven’t completed your school supply shopping, please do so right away so that your child is fully prepared for learning. School supplies remain in school. Also we have added an additional item to the supply list. We have asked for antibacterial wipes to be used in the classroom. To help with keeping out room free of germs that may make us sick.

We love to celebrate birthdays in school so if you’d like to send in cake or cupcakes for your child’s special day, just let us know a few days in advance.

We eat lunch at 12:15 each day.  If you’d like to send in a snack for your child to eat with lunch, please make it a healthy one! Fruit, cheese, or granola bars make a great snack. Please…… no soda, candy, or sugary drinks.

Homework will be checked each day. Please make sure you check  over (and sign) your child’s homework every night. Be sure to also check your child’s homework folder for any important information that will be given out either by your child’s teacher, as well as the school. Read with your child each and every day! Developing a love for reading is so important to a child’s educational future.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to jot us a note in your child’s homework notebook and we will respond as soon as possible. You can also reach us through the school office at 718-528-2238.

Attendance and punctuality is very important! Please be on time (8:40 AM) every day. Walkers will be dismissed in the back yard by 2:40 PM. Attendance awards will be given out in June! Strive for perfect attendance!

We are excited about working with your child, and are looking forward to a great parent-teacher team! Working together, we can accomplish great things!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Lynn Morris and Ms. Antonella Chavez
