Welcome to Fourth Grade!
Welcome to Class 431! We are excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and we are looking forward to a happy and productive school year. We will be communicating with you throughout the year through notes, monthly newsletters, and via telephone. We believe that a good parent-teacher relationship is essential for school success. The 2013-2014 school year will be rigorous. We will continue to implement the common core curriculum required by the state in all subject areas. The New York City website http://schools.nyc.gov has a plethora of information regarding the common core curriculum for parents. We encourage you to visit the website if you have any question regarding the common core curriculum.
To ensure a successful year, we encourage the following:
Tune-In: Ask your child what he/she is studying and look at the homework notebook nightly.
Ask Questions: If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please don’t hesitate to call. We can be reached at 718-528-2238. We welcome all ideas and feedback! Please be sure to schedule an appointment so that we are prepared and our time together is well spent.
Homework: You should anticipate that your child will have homework most nights. You will always be able to find homework written in the homework notebook. I encourage you and your child to set up a scheduled time and place for homework. Homework is an opportunity for students to independently practice and apply skills learned in class.
We encourage you to keep in touch with us. Thank you for sharing your children with us, and we look forward to a great year of learning and growing together. Let’s work together to make this the best school year ever!
