Welcome to Fourth Grade!

Dear Parents/Guardian,

            We are delighted to have your child in our class this year.  With your encouragement, your child will be a part of many exciting and rewarding experiences this academic year.

            We have developed a classroom discipline plan which will help every student to make good decisions about their behavior and to learn in a positive, nurturing classroom environment. The plan below outlines our classroom rules, possible rewards and consequences for appropriate and inappropriate behaviors.

Rules:          1.         Follow directions.

                     2.         Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.
                     3.         No swearing or teasing.

4.         No yelling or screaming.

5.         Do not leave the room without permission.

            To encourage students to follow these classroom rules, we will recognize appropriate behavior with praise and good notes or phone call home.  The students will be able to earn two tickets everyday- one for good behavior and one for completing all homework assignments.  On Fridays, they will be able to trade in their tickets for a “prize.”

If a student chooses to break a rule, the following steps will be taken;

First time a student

  • Breaks a rule:    Warning
  • Second time:      2nd Warning
  • Third time:         5 minutes working away from the group
  • Third time:         10 minutes working away from the group and write a letter home or a phone call
  • Severe Cause:  Student removal, send to the dean’s office

            Please be assured that our goal is to work with you to ensure the success of your child this year.  Please read this classroom discipline plan with your child.

Sincerely,

Ms. Yang
