 Message from the Principal to Parents and Guardians:

The233Q curriculum concentrates on NYS standards (content areas), life skills(IEP’s) and project based leanring using multisensory instruction. Thismonth, December, students will celebrate their ethnicity (individual heritageand world cultures (with an emphasis on food, dress, and ways of life).

 

Many of your students are now participating in the NYSAA .   If yourchild is scheduled to take the assessment this year, you will be asked tocomplete a parent-teacher survey.  Please consult with your child’steacher to see if your child is scheduled to take this assessment for2008-2009.

 

Multicultural Celebrations : During themonth of December, 233Q will honor individual diversity and celebrate worldcultures. As celebration includes sharing certain foods, please send in afavorite recipe for the 233Q FAMILY cookbook which will be published [by thestudents] in the spring. Send the recipe to your child’s teacher. Your family’sname will accompany the recipe in the cookbook. The cookbooks will bedistributed to 233Q families.

 

Used greeting cards : we need old greeting cards! As partof our ‘Going Green’ effort, we ask that you send in unwanted greeting cards[they can be used] for all occasions.The cards will be re-used in an upcomingscience/recycling project. The cards can have print inside.

 

UsedStamps: We Need Used Stamps! As part of our project based learning focusand our Going Green effort, we ask that you send us any used stamps before youshred them or throw them out. The stamps can be attached to envelopes - we willremove the stamps from the envelopes at school. All stamps are appreciated butstamps from other states/countries would be greatly appreciated and veryexciting to share with the students. The stamps will be used to generate an artproject / mural. The count is on - we need hundreds of stamps to complete thisproject.

 

December Coat Drive : Servicelearning is an on-going focus for P233Q. 875 has a drop off box for unwantedcoats as part of the New York Cares Coat Drive; the month long drive ends atthe end of December.

Pleasedonate old coats. Send the coat with your child to school.

 

Old Fabric : Please send in unwanted fabric - i.e.old shirts, towels, sheets, etc. Once received, the items are cut into squaresand sewn together to create stuffed bears. The ‘Make a Bear’ Service LearningProject will benefit homeless students undergoing chemotherapy. The students at875 actually do the sewing.   

 

Yourefforts are greatly appreciated and serve to assist in our effort to bridge thehome/school learning experience.
