Dean's Office

Student safety and disciplinary issues are handled by our Dean, Ms. Middleton. She is available to meet with parents throughout the week.  Please call the school if you would like to set up an appointment.   Below are some resources to help parents and students deal with real-life issues.

Conflicts and Conflict Resolution
Conflicts between students are a regular occurrence in schools, but it can be much more beneficial to have students work through disagreements on their own instead of having teachers acting as mediators, a school resource specialist writes in this blog post. "I like this type of approach because it puts the power of conflict resolution in the hands of the students," she writes, adding there are times when it is still important for teachers to step in.

It's My Life: Gossip and Rumors
Talks about what rumors and gossip really are, why people circulate them, and how you can stop them from doing damage to you and the people you care about.

Overcoming Obstacles
To help address important life skills for our middle school students, PS 127Q utilizes the Overcoming Obstacles: Life Skills Program.  This program has been proven to positively impact the lives of young people.  The Overcoming Obstacles Life Skills Curriculum is unique, tested, and proven. It helps educators teach over 20 important life skills that all young people need, beginning with the most critical: communication, decision making, and goal setting.

Stop Bullying
StopBullying.gov provides information from various government agencies on how kids, teens, young adults, parents, educators and others in the community can prevent or stop bullying.  If you or someone you know is being bullied, get help.
