Welcome from everyone at the Aerospace and Science Academy

Congratulations to class 6-416 and 8-421 for having the highest attendance average for the month of April! Students in both classes received certificates of appreciation from Burger King which entitles them to a free meal. 

June 5th and June 11th are half days for students. All students will be dismissed at 11:30AM. There is no school for students on  June 7th.
  
On May 14th, 2012 class 7-415 was visited by Assemblymember Aravella Simotas.  The Assemblymember recognized the students for their essays celebrating Black History Month.  All year long these students have worked hard to meet the demands of the Common Core Standards and to give back to their community through the form of various community service projects.  A special thanks to their teacher Ms. Willis for coordinating this event. 

 
On March 15th, 2012 the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the new East Elmhurst Community Park @ PS 127Q took place.  This $3.4 million project was made possible by the hardwork and dedication of Council Member Julissa Ferreras.  On behalf of the PS 127Q community we would also like to thank Queens Borough President Helen Marshall and the other supporters of this project.  The new park is scheduled to open in the spring of 2013.  Additional photos are in our "Photo Album" section.
 

PS 127Q held our 2nd Annual Computer Giveaway Workshop for middle school parents and students on Saturday, March 10th, 2012.  This workshop trained parents on how to use different programs of a computer and the importance of Internet safety for their children. PerScholas provided each family with a FREE computer at the end of the workshop.  A special thank you to Ms. Jaramillo and Ms. Farnum for helping to facilitate this workshop.  Additional photos from this workshop can be found in our "Photo Album" section. 

 
The Middle School Girls Chorus performed America the Beautiful at the NY Islanders hockey game on Saturday, February 18th, 2012.  Mr. Estreicher (Music Director) prepared our girls for this amazing opportunity and they sang beautifully in front of 11,000 people.  Check out the "Spotlight on PS 127Q" link below for additional photos and videos from this night.  The Islanders winning the game 4-3 added to the excitement of the evening.  Click HERE to view the performance.


The Middle School Talent Show was held on Thursday, February 16th, 2012.  Students showcased their different talents including singing and dancing.  It was an exciting time for all the participants and those in attendance.

 
On December 7th, 2011, we held our 3rd Annual Ballroom Dancing Performance.  We want to congratulate our 4th, 5th, and 8th grade students who participated in this wonderful event.  For additional photos and videos visit our "Spotlight" link below. 

 
Class 8-421 visited Capital One Bank on November 22nd, 2011 with their math teacher Mr. Forte to learn more about financial literacy.  This trip was the culmination of a unit of study where students learned the difference between credit and debit, how to balance a budget, and the importance of saving money.  Click HERE for an overview of the program.

Attention PS 127 community!  Please help to support Mr. Estreicher and our chorus achieve their goal of raising money for their documentary. At the end of this project Mr. Estreicher and our chorus students will be able to share their hard work with the school community. The hope is that project this will inspire other students to develop their talents and make a change. Once again we want to thank all of our parents for making our second Parent-Teacher Conference of the year (March 13th, 2012) a huge success.  Teachers met with over 75% of our parents once again and shared with them their child's performance on standardized assessments (Acuity), their current reading level, and samples of student work.

PS 127Q wishes to congratulate Ms. Sanabria and Ms. Hamilton as they are being honored by the NAACP on Saturday December 3rd, 2011 for contributions to the East Elmhurst community. You both are very deserving of this distinction.

Thank you PS 127 community for helping to make the November 15th Parent-Teacher Conference a huge success.  We had over 75% of our parents turn out to view a brief presentation on the Common Core Learning Standards and meet with teachers to discuss the progress their child is making.  We look forward to meeting a greater number of parents for our next Parent-Teacher Conference in March.
