To provide academic excellence in a nurturing environment, where all parents, children and staff feel welcome, safe and intellectually challenged. Through ongoing instructional programs, maintaining an environment conducive to learning, and student programs enriched with outside resources, we aim to educate all students to be well-adjusted, productive youngsters, who are able to function in the modern world. Steinway, I.S.141 has ranked number one in reading for 14 of the past 16 years, and in addition, number one in mathematics for 11 of the past 15 years among C.S.D. 30 middle schools. The Magnet Program for the Humanities, gifted and talented classes, an after school program addressing reading and mathematic needs of students, an excellent Parent-Teacher Association, administrative, guidance and teaching staff are largely responsible for this achievement.
