222 at a Glance

P.S. 222Q is a fairly new school, opened in 2002, in historical Jackson Heights. It serves a culturally diverse population of 320 students in grades Pre-K to 2. It sees itself as an integral part of the community and strives to include parents in their children's education in a full and reciprocal partnership. In 2005-2006 it implemented a new Dual Language Academy (Spanish-English), in Pre-k, K and first grade, with a goal of educating both the English Language Learners and Native English Speakers to support and learn from each other in a nurturing environment and ultimately become bilingual and biliterate in both languages.
