The John Tyler School, PS 45, is located in the West Brighton Community of Staten Island's North Shore. PS 45 is committed to giving its multi-ethnic, multi-lingual student body the finest in child-centered education in grades K-5. Our student body represents a diverse socio-economic background. Our long tradition of active parent involvement, coupled with a stable and committed staff and administration are working together to address the ever changing needs of our children. Our belief in school based talent development and parent/staff cooperation has resulted in many innovative initiatives that not only enhance the delivery of instruction but support student self-esteem and social development. PS 45 staff, administration and parents stand ready to meet our children's future together.
Using the theme "The Child and Our Community," PS 45 (we) will employ a print rich, language and literature based curriculum with multimedia support to excite our children towards academic achievement and engender a sense of learning that is a lifelong process not limited to the classroom.
Working together to make it work. In an effort to provide supportive services for PS 45, we will provide a positive and orderly child centered school climate conducive to learning. In addition, through the cooperative efforts of the home, community, and school each child will strive to maximize his/her social, emotional and academic potential. To that end, we are commited to the concept of a community of learners.
Believe, Achieve, Succeed!
