Congratulations to...
Tom Petti of the Math and Science Institute won second place in the Radiology Essay Competition sponsored by Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital and the Department of Education. We are very proud of Tom!

 The Girls Lacrosse Team on their first win in their first season competing in the PSAL.  The girls defeated previously unbeaten Brooklyn Tech in overtime (4-3) on April 19th. Marissa Surowiec scored 3 goals and Alexis Figueroa netted the game winner in overtime.  Monica Rivera made 15 saves in the victory. Keep it going girls! 

Michelene Wilkerson, a Corporate Center Senior, has won a Gates Millenium Scholarship! The Gates Millenium Scholars Program only selects 1,000 talented students each year to receive a four-year scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice.  Michelene has also won a POSSE scholarship and will be attending Babson University in the fall.  We congratulate Michele on her amazing success!

Virtual Enterprise Program
For the 7th consecutive year, New Dorp High School's Virtual Enterprise Program earned a berth in the U.S. National VE Business Plan Competition.  This year our new firm, Solarity, placed 3rd in the nation.  The school received a beautiful crystal award for 3rd place and each sutdent won an Apple Nano.  Mr. Paul Presti, the team's coordiator, won an iPad-3 for his efforts.

Tony Santangelo wowed the judges with a brilliant opening and closed with the SWOT Analysis and a dramatic ending.  He also informed the judges that spending $10,000 on solar panels would pay for themselves in 3 years with tax and electric bill savings.  Michelene Wilkerson was dynamic with her industry analysis and target market analysis.  Danny Tsygankov presented the financials, Breanna Ovalle presented the management functions, and
John Gonzalez handled the marketing strategy.  Samantha Lopez had impeccable timing with the slides.  Solarity is the 4th New Dorp team to make the podium at the National Championships in New Dorp's history.
