Coming Soon to Tottenville High School . . . “Grab and Go Breakfast”
In partnership with the Department of Education’s Office of Food and Nutrition Services, Tottenville High School has been selected to participate in a pilot breakfast program, “Grab and Go.”
In an effort to encourage teenagers to eat a nutritious breakfast daily and in recognition of breakfast being the most important meal of the day, our students will now be offered a free, nutritious “bag breakfast” as they enter school in the morning. Free traditional breakfast as well as “Grab and Go,” will also be available to our students in our school cafeteria, beginning daily at 7:10AM.
Students entering school, at the D-Wing entrance, during our normal entry time of 7:40AM – 7:55AM, after swiping their CAASS ID card, will have an opportunity to receive a “Grab and Go” breakfast, which will include a beverage (juice and/or milk) and a bread item (or cheese).
Students will be encouraged to eat and drink the complete breakfast and to properly dispose of all trash in classroom waste receptacles.
It should be noted that, under no circumstances, will tardy students be permitted to participate in this program, and this program, which will be closely monitored, will not contribute to student lateness.
I strongly urge our students to take advantage of this new program, or our traditional breakfast program and I ask parents to stress to their children the importance of a healthy breakfast.
I look forward to our students taking advantage of this free program. Enjoy!!
