This has been an exciting start to the school year for the U. S. History class and for Student Government! We have studied the Colonial Era, the American Revolution, and the creation of the Constitution, and we have begun a new unit on Expansion in early American history. The class is focused on strengthening student writing through annotation skills in homework assignments and through reading and responding to primary source documents in class. Student participation is an essential part of U. S. History class, and the students have shared their opinions on the main events in our nation’s history during class discussions.
In addition to learning about government during U.S. History class, the students have also established a strong student government which has become an important part of our school culture. The student government has already organized bake sales and a Halloween party, and the group plans to organize events for Thanksgiving to give back to the community.
