Welcome new students, congratulations to our August grads, and welcome back to all familiar faces! The 2008 school year sparks the beginning of new and wonderful happenings at BCHS. For those students returning, they will be surprised to see that our school has expanded our facilities to include 6 new classrooms, several offices and new spaces that include a UFT Teacher Center, an in-house Mental Health Counseling Center, a dedicated Art Room, a Resource Lab and a Parent Resource Center!
When we left you last June, we were sad to announce that we were losing several of our staff members. With Lydia, Chris, Fathia, Steve, Charles and Ben starting new chapters elsewhere and with the expansion of our facilities, we are also happy to announce ten new additions to our BCHS family:
Kevin Ehly - Math Teacher
Sarah Folks - LTW Social Worker
Haviva Halpert - Math Teacher
Alecia James - Science Teacher
Andrew Martir - Guidance Counselor/College Advisor
Hien Pham - Phys Ed Teacher
Sandra Torres-Drozd - Special Ed/Math CTT Teacher
Giovanna Vasconez - Art Teacher
Keri Watkins - UFT Teacher Center Director
Nakeeba Wauchope - Special Ed/English CTT Teacher
We are also happy to announce the addition of the College Summit Program to BCHS! Over the summer, staff and student leaders have attended national conferences and extensive training sessions all to gear up for an improved college process at our school. We will keep parents and students abreast of college workshops, application deadlines and/or college fairs and trips.
We’re off to a great start. Our new student orientation was promising. We look forward to a great year ahead!
