High academic performance is a byproduct of a student who is interested in what they're learning. Today's student is often called the digital native because their world has always been one that has had access to the internet, video games, and digital communication devices. Yet quite often, students feel they need to power down when they come to school because we haven't realized how to engage the 21st century learner. One goal of the Department of eLearning Services is to help schools find the best curriculum resources to support teaching and learning. By leveraging the digital resources that schools already own, resources that the Department of Education can provide at a reduced rate, and resources available for free on the internet, eLearning Services hopes to increase the use of tools and strategies that address today's student.
Tabula Digita
DimensionM Multiplayer Game |
DimensionM is a fast paced highstakes immersive video game that challenges students knowledge and understanding of math concepts. With single player missions that invite students to discover the fun and excitement in algebra, and multiplayer games where students collaborate and compete with players across the country, Tabula Digita helps students enjoy math while mastering mathematics. With over 160 schools using DimensionM immersive learning software (as of July 2009), New York City students have plenty of peers to collaborate and compete with. The second annual NYC Megabowl was held in May 2009 and was a highly successful demonstration of how much fun math can be.
