"Immigrant Life," Arturo Navarrete, Eighth Grade, IS 162

The wall is there,

Tall and wide,

My heart pumping,

Crossing the line,

Immigration has come,

It’s time to run,

My life is in trouble.

Now I give up.

There is nothing left to do,

I remain quiet.

Will I come back to reality?

I didn’t make it today,

I don’t worry about it,

‘Cause I know I’m going to try it again,

There goes another day,

I return to that place,

That same place where I get arrested.

I will try again,

In a bright new day,

I hope I will make it today.
