I would like recognize Ms. Tonette Earl for the role she has played in my life. I met Ms. Earl when I was in the 3rd grade and I was going through a difficult time in my life; foster care. If you ask me, I think she was reaching out to me because of my situation but if you ask her, she will say it was because I am special. Ms. Earl saw me through my adoption process and the death of my father two summers ago. I have been "adopted" by her family and they treat me like I'm her little sister. I know it is against most rules for teachers to take kids places but I am thankful that Ms. Earl stepped out on faith and mentors me. I have been with her family to visit different places, in and out of state and most recently, she and her mom took me to Atlanta on my first plane ride for Ms. Earl's homecoming at Clark Atlanta University! I know that others may recognize teachers for the great things they learn in the classroom but I am thankful for all of the out of classroom experiences that Ms. Earl has given me. She always says, "To whom much is given, much is required" and wants to share her blessings with others.
