I grew up in the South Bronx and I attended public school. Right from the start of school and all the way through High School, teachers helped me along the way. I am very lucky. I have had quite a few extraordinary teachers in my life. I wish I could talk about them all but if I had to pick one over the others I would have to talk about two of my high school physical education teachers who were also my coaches, Ms. Betsy Escobar and Ms. Barbara Esmilla. They did more than teach. They were there to help with problems in and out of school While I have always been a driven person, they believed in me and always made me realize my full potential. I was the first one in my family to graduate from High School and go on to college.With their help and motivation, I went on to attain two Master's Degrees and a career serving kids and giving back as best as I can. They went above and beyond the call of duty and they did the same with hundreds of other students.
I currently supervise Ms. Betsy Escobar and I work closely with Barbara Esmilla. I am glad for all the teachers in my life but I will always remember the impact that they made in my life during the most important time in the life of a child.
