Robert Gold, English Teacher, Francis Lewis High School

Mr. Robert Gold is one of the best English teachers at Francis Lewis High School. No one will ever forget about his charismatic and passionate way of teaching. His emphasis on grammar greatly helps students to improve their writing. His teaching materials, such as idioms and figurative language comics prove to be extremely useful and unique, especially because they are not taught in regular English classes.

What impresses me the most about Mr. Gold is not his excellent teaching, but his philosophy. He explained to me that one should always strive for what he believes is right, even when others strongly oppose it, so he would not have any regrets. Mr. Gold also taught me that there is no need to feel distressed about any obstacle in life, because all problems will eventually be solved as time passes by. His "This Too Shall Pass" philosophy has helped me endure through my stressful high school junior year and first term of my senior year. Now, I could care less about the fierce competition that is going on in my school, because I know I will always be myself, trying my best to achieve my goal.

Here, I want to acknowledge Mr. Gold for his excellent teaching, and thank him for his guidance for finding who I really am.
