Steven Jacoby, Guidance Counselor, Bayside High School

Mr. Steven Jacoby is one of the most inspirational people that has a great influence on what I feel like is one of the most life-changing time of my life- my high school years.

Mr. Jacoby has been a guidance counselor at Bayside High School for almost five years now. The road that he has taken inspires me greatly. Mr. Jacoby has told me that at first, he wanted to become a carpenter. However, carpentry school became quite expensive, so he decided to get an education in counseling. His experience inspires and teaches me that it is okay if at first, you are not sure with your decisions, even if it is a decision so big it could change your life.

At school, many students and staff always joke around with Mr. Jacoby and ask him if he has his pump-up bed ready for the night. This is because Mr. Jacoby is known for staying late at his office to finish his work. This shows me that he is very dedicated and most of all, that he is devoted to helping his students. If a student wants a program change, provided that he or she has a good reason, he will go to the ends to help him and her fix it. I can tell you that from my own experience.
