Betsy Lynch, Teacher, Richard H. Hungerford School

My name is Erin Rumph, and I am writing this letter on the behalf of my developmentally disabled sister, Carrie Rumph. Carrie is a 1989 graduate of the Richard H. Hungerford School -P721R, in Staten Island.  While in attendance there she had many outstanding paraprofessionals and teachers.  However, there is one teacher in particular that comes to mind when I think of her years spent at the school, Mrs. Betsy Lynch.

Mrs. Lynch helped push my sister to achieve her goals.  She was always supportive, kind and compassionate.  She accepted my sister's limited capabilities, and maximized all her potential abilities.  In doing this it helped my sister reach her highest level of independence.

While my sister will always need the help and support of others, the education and skills she learned while in Mrs. Lynch's class will help her throughout her life.

Mrs. Lynch still teaches at the Hungerford School, empowering the lives of so many young adults with special needs.
Lucky for them!!!!
