Nadine Mastro, Sixth Grade Math Teacher, IS 30K

My favorite teacher is Ms. Mastro. The things I learn in her class aren’t only about math. I learned how much more fun working is when you work in a group. I also believe that sometimes working in a group is more helpful. When I don’t understand what a teacher is saying, when we work in groups we can figure it out. This is only one of the lessons my favorite teacher taught me.

She also teaches me new ideas and shortcuts in math. She gives us easier ways to memorize stuff. She taught me that when multiplying fractions you must remember the K.C.F rule. This rule tells you to keep the first fraction, change the multiplication sign to a division sign, and flip the numerator with the denominator for the last fraction. She is also very respectful to students and their opinions. She always helps me understand when I am confused. She doesn’t give us as much homework or tests as other teachers. She explains things so everyone can understand. She understands that we do not want to do home work when we get home from a long day of school. We work hard in school.

She is also my homeroom teacher. Every time we get a letter sent home she explains what it means and how it will affect us. If she does not think it will affect us at all she will just tell us to get our parents to sign it.

These are all the reasons why Ms. Mastro is my favorite teacher.
