Luz Minaya, Spanish/Technology Teacher, IS 528M

The teacher I'm most thankful for in my school is Ms. Luz Minaya. I am thankful for Ms. Minaya for many reasons. I am thankful for her, because she always keeps the school in place, never gives up on us. She always tries to do everything for the better of our school. She gives us advice and really cares for all the students.

Ms. Minaya always keeps the school in place. What I mean by this, is that she always gets everybody to the class and she always clears the hallways. Also, when we have celebrations, she's the one fixing everything and going crazy because she wants everything to be in order for the show or the special activity. Our school has to always look great and be great. She is one of the busiest teachers in our school, because she teaches Spanish & technology. When she is not teaching, she is always trying to help other teachers out with their technical difficulties. She is the teacher in charge of this group called "Mouse Squad", which I'm also a part of. The Mouse Squad is a group of students who are trained to fix computers in our school. We had to attend Saturday classes and there was Ms. Minaya with us on the two Saturdays. She has motivated many students who normally would be in trouble to be part of this Squad. As you can see, she is a very busy woman who is always trying to do her best for our school!

She never gives up on us, because if we do something wrong she teaches it in another way so that we can understand her better. For example, in our Spanish class there are a number of students that do not speak Spanish and she tries to find ways for them to understand her by using pictures or context clues that would help them figure out what she's trying to teach.

As you can see, Ms. Minaya is a great teacher, and a great role model and I personally really admire her. She means a lot to me because she made me realize that if I want something in life I have to work hard for it. She taught me to never give up on life, because life will always have its ups and downs. You have to do your best to live with it and get through it. I know that many, if not all the students at I.S 528 present & past feel the same way I do. She is someone we all admire and respect.
