Ms. Gisela Montalvo from PS 75 in the Bronx personifies the best in our profession. Her achievements serve as an inspiration to our UFT Chapter Members. Her ability to work well with all students in an inclusive and positive environment is worthy of much praise and admiration. Each project across the curriculum meets the highest academic standards. Academic excellence is exhibited in these standard based projects which are displayed in the classroom and beyond the perimeters of the classroom. Because of Ms. Montalvo's dedication to her students, there are no insurmountable challenges. She is by far, a positive and motivating force within our school. As indicated by Othania Johnson, a high school honor student, "I learned more from Ms. Montalvo than any teacher I've had."
Today she directs the Read 180 Lab. In that capacity she ensures that at-risks students have an opportunity to score higher in reading as they master the skills and strategies needed for the future. Ms. Montalvo's love of learning is infused in each student as the student becomes an adventurer. I extend my sincere wishes for Ms. Montalvo's success today, tomorrow and always.
