I would like to thank my Classical Greek teacher, Jonathan Owens. Latin and Classical Greek aren't the most common subjects in NYC high schools, and they probably aren't thought of as fun, but Mr. Owens makes it such an enjoyable experience. His love and affinity for the language and its history and culture are contagious. The ability that he has to distinguish what century an Ancient Greek vase dates back to is unbelievable. His class is interactive and fun and the reason why I have started taking Latin as well as Greek. He doesn't just teach the grammar, he infuses Classical Greek culture, the foundation for Western Civilization, into every class. He is an amazing person and teacher and is always there to help or just talk about ancient history. I'm sure everyone who's had him for either Latin or Greek would agree. I feel lucky and honored to have had him and still have him for Classical Greek, and it's because of him that I will most likely go on to further study the classics and hopefully make it an integral part of my career.
