My son, Will, is in pre-kindergarten at PS 58 in Carroll Gardens, 
Brooklyn. In early September, my husband and I worried that the transition from a small private school to a large public school would be a challenge, but thankfully we were mistaken. Megan Simms is an amazing teacher! Her energy, enthusiasm and commitment to her students is infectious. Megan clearly loves children. Will was smitten from day one. He comes home each and every day with tons to share about his day. He now writes his name independently.
I am thankful for all of the little things that Megan does to involve working families in the school day -- sending home weekly newsletters with pictures of the children, sending individual e-mails to share news, and inviting parents in to read stories and do projects with the class when they can.
Thank you, Megan, for making Will's first year of public school so magical!
