Gotham Graduates Give Back Award

Are you a graduate of New York City public schools who will be teaching at the Department of Education for the first time this year?  If so, we want to celebrate your talent and honor your commitment to teaching in our community.

The NYC Department of Education will recognize a select group of up to 50 new recruits who are graduates of the New York City public school system, share our commitment to raising student achievement, and who want to help us raise the profile of teaching in New York City.  In addition to being featured in recruitment materials and assisting in effots to raise the profile of teaching locally, each award winner will receive a $1,000 stipend prior to the start of the school year. 

This is a highly competitive award that celebrates our rich pool of homegrown talent and will provide role models for current students in the public schools.  You must submit your online employment application by Monday, July 7, 2008 in order to qualify for priority consideration for the Gotham Graduates Give Back Award.  (click on the orange "Apply Now" button on the right side of this page)

The deadline to submit the award application is Monday, July 21, 2008.  Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis and we expect to identify the majority of the award winners from the candidates who meet the priority consideration deadline.
