Career Fairs
The Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality will be hosting several career fairs during the summer months to assist new teachers in securing a school-based teaching position. These events provide teacher candidates the opportunity to meet directly with hiring representatives from a variety of schools across New York City.
Because space is limited, these events are by invitation only. If you do not receive a bar-coded invitation from the Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality via email, will not be admitted into the event.
As the number of invitations extended is based on the number of principals who register, invitations are sent on a rolling basis; some applicants may be invited up to 48 hours prior to an event. All highly qualified candidates in the New Teacher Finder are selected randomly from the pool to fill invitation slots.
While these events are a good opportunity for applicants to meet with principals, we strongly recommend that applicants be proactive and reach out to schools and principals directly. Not all schools choose to hire teachers through career fairs, so it is important to reach out to principals in different ways. There are many resources on this site that can assist you in conducting your research and outreach.
