Measures of Effective Teaching

The Department of Education and the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) are looking for volunteer principals and teachers to participate in a two-year research study to help develop fair, accurate, and useful guides to what really makes effective teaching. The Measures of Effective Teaching study is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and is premised on the principle that good teaching is multi-dimensional and that teachers and their schools need consistent and reliable information in order to identify and support good teaching.

Interested principals should go to the official MET Project website to complete an application: http://metproject.org.

Interested teachers should complete the online application or download a paper version and fax it in (instructions are on the bottom of the form).

Schools have until this Thursday, October 22nd to indicate interest using the Principal and Teacher Interest Forms. Schools will be notified after that date whether they have been chosen to participate.
