Beginning June 2, the Teacher Data Initiative (TDI) will be asking all schools with grades 3-8 that administered state tests in 2008-09 to verify the course assignment data. These data will be used to generate the next set of Teacher Data Reports, scheduled for release to schools in Fall 2009. The deadline for schools to verify their data is June 25, 2009.
Teacher Data Reports for core ELA and math teachers in grades 4-8 were released to schools for the first time this past fall. The data in the reports are designed to measure teachers’ contribution to student progress. The Teacher Data Initiative performs data verification to ensure that the reports generated are based on the most accurate course assignment data available. For more information on the Teacher Data Initiative, please visit the Teacher Data Toolkit.
A school’s principal is responsible for the completion of TDI verification, but a variety of school-based staff help verify the data. We have asked principals to involve teachers in the verification of teachers’ own course assignment data so that teachers are confident that the courses and students contributing to their reports represent those they taught.
Teachers and school staff should reach out to their principals, school administrators, and/or UFT liaisons if they have additional questions or need support.
