The New York State Education Department (NYSED) now requires all elementary schools to use Response to Intervention (RTI), a framework for instruction and intervention in literacy. New York City schools serving grades K-5 will use the RTI model.
The
RTI Reference Guide (DOE login required) contains information and guidance on the RTI approach, including key policy requirements and expectations. For a brief overview of Response to Intervention, please see these
frequently asked questions. These documents will be updated regularly, as additional resources become available. Teachers, principals, and support specialists are invited to
provide feedback about RTI professional development interests by
September 14.
More information is available at the
RTI page on the DOE Intranet.
