Report that a child will be absent from school.	If a child will be absent from school due to illness or family emergency, the parent or guardian may wish to directly notify the school of the absence by phone on the morning of or the evening before the absence. Even if the school is not yet open for the day, messages may be left on the voicemail system at most schools. "Any planned absences for religious observances or medical reasons should be communicated to the school in advance via a note from the parent or guardian, before that planned absence period begins."
