How to Enroll
The Office of Adult and Continuing Education:
- Offers over 800 free classes for adults age 21 and over.
- Provides information for the Adult Learning Centers located in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx.
- Schedules day and evening classes Monday through Saturday.
- Holds classes at more than 175 sites in all five boroughs.
Any New York city resident 21 years or older without a U.S. High School equivalency (HSE) or diploma may register for and take classes anywhere in the city, regardless of which borough they live in. There is a limited availability in some Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes for holders of U.S. high school equivalency. All classes are taught by certified teachers and are tuition-free. Some classes require fees for textbooks, certification exams, and/or uniforms.
