For the 2012 -2013 Academic Year, Office of Sustainability is offering two types of sustainability coordinator training to help schools accomplish our collective goals for energy conservation, recycling, ecology and the integration of sustainability concepts into the curricula.
1)
Sustainability Coordinator Training 1 (Introductory Course): This course is designed for first time sustainability coordinators who haven't attended the training in the past.
2) Sustainability Coordinator Training 2 (Advanced Course): This course is designed for sustainability coordinators who have obtained a Certificate of Completion of Sustainability Coordinator Training in 2010-2011 or 2011-2012 school years. Sustainability Coordinator Training 1 is a prerequisite for Sustainability Coordinator Training 2.
The Sustainability Coordinator Trainings are co-sponsored with the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) and are designed to clearly define the role of the Sustainability Coordinator, and to allow Sustainability Coordinators to hear directly from our partners on what resources are available to help them succeed in their role. The DOE Office of Sustainability thanks the UFT for hosting and co-programming these events.
We strongly encourage all Sustainability Coordinators to attend the appropriate training and receive their Certificate of Completion. Prior approval from principals is needed to RSVP. An OP-201 Form requesting a non-attendance day must be submitted to principals in order to provide for substitute teacher coverage where needed. Below are the dates for Sustainability Coordinator Training 1 and 2.
October 11, 2012: Sustainability Coordinator Training 1 (Introductory Course)
November 13, 2012: Sustainability Coordinator Training 2 (Advanced Course)
January 7, 2013: Sustainability Coordinator Training 2 (Advanced Course)
