Morris Education Complex in the Bronx reduced 54.7% Energy and won 2012 Green Cup Challenge and $25,000 award. We are excited to announce the art contest for the twelve month energy efficiency calendar! Thirteen winners will be chosen representing each month of the year and the Grand Prize for the calendar cover. The submission deadline is May 3, 2012. Up to 90 schools can win cash prizes by demonstrating exemplary school recycling programs, waste reduction efforts, clean-up projects or gardening programs. Complete descriptions and documentation of your projects must be submitted online by May 1, 2012. Find out more information about the contest and prior year winning entries here. We congratulate PS 57 in Staten Island and PS 41 in Manhattan for placing 4th and 6th respectively statewide on US Department of Education's Green Ribbon Schools Program for efforts towards becoming a net zero school! Solar One has partnered with the DOE Sustainability Initiative to provide NYCDOE schools with the Green Design LabTM, a curriculum program that uses school building as a laboratory for learning. For grant-writing help and individual feedback, attend Grow to Learn grant-specific workshop at 3 pm on 4/10/2012 at 51 Chambers St. NYC Department of Environmental Protection 26th Water Resources Art and Poetry Contest is open and accepting submissions until April 16th. Students in grades 2-12 can submit photographs, digital art, video or other forms of artwork and poetry that creatively expresses the understanding of and appreciation for water.
