Mentoring Excellence

Manny and Jessica

Manny and I had an instant connection. I was eager to learn but did not want to move on
too quickly. He was very patient in teaching me the aspects of leadership while slowly giving
me more and more responsibility. When we began to talk about the possibility of me moving
forward and becoming a principal we discussed the importance of taking on a position that
was well suited for me and not just any principalship. He pushed my thinking in figuring out
what I wanted from this opportunity and how I would prepare. We developed such a level
of respect and admiration for each other that we decided whatever road we took, we
wanted to remain working as closely as possible. He often pointed out areas that needed
more work in my skill set in order to successfully move forward. We developed such a
level of respect and admiration for each other that we decided whatever road we took, we
wanted to remain working as closely as possible.
