On June 3, 2013 Community Education Council 26 voted to change the current zone for I.S. 172. The approved zone changes for the 2014-2015 school year may be found in the maps provided below.
Why did the CEC approve this zone change?
- The zone change aligns where students are zoned for elementary school and middle school grades
- The zone change formalizes the articulation pattern that is already in practice as stated by the community
What changes should families expect as a result of this re-zoning?
- Some students who reside in District 26 and who were previously zoned to I.S. 109 in District 29 will now be zoned to I.S. 172.
What will this mean for my family?
- The proposed changes would impact only incoming sixth grade students or students that are new to the system. All currently enrolled students may remain at their school until graduation.

The black outline represents the proposed zone boundaries. The solid background colors represent the former zone boundaries. Based on this proposal, starting in 2014-2015, the zone a family lives in is determined by each black outlined polygon. All zone lines run down the center of the street unless otherwise specified.
