Minute Math is a quick way to get extra math in any time you have a few moments throughout the day. It is great to use during transitions between activities, or when you are moving from one room to another (i.e., lunch). Each page begins with a basic activity with several options for adaptation. There are dots next to each question that denote the basic activity with increasing challenges as you move from the first to the fourth dot. You can choose the level of the activity that best meets the needs of the students. These questions act as a guide. You can also substitute any numbers that would better support your students.
Allowing children to create their own Minute Math questions for each other is another way to utilize Minute Math. These can be written on index cards and kept in a small container in the room. During free periods, students may opt to do a few Minute Math activities with each other.
