SUBJECT:

UFT Union Officers, District Representatives and Functional Chapter Leaders

 

UFT Union Officers, District Representatives and Functional Chapter Leaders who are assigned to schools are granted “release time” in order to perform duties on behalf of the UFT. This memorandum allocates funds to schools to help defray costs associated with the loss of instructional services stemming from these activities.

 

UFT Union Officers and UFT District Representatives:

Teach one period a day and are excused after their teaching period. Schools will receive resources to fully support the cost of their Union Officers and District Representative at the school’s average teacher salary.

 

UFT Functional Chapter Leaders:

Are allowed up to 2 days per week for the investigation of grievances and for other appropriate activities relating to the administration of the agreement between DOE and UFT and the duties of their office. Affected schools will receive funds to offset substitute costs incurred while the functional chapter leader is excused. The funding is based on 36 weeks per academic year and the rate specified below:

·         TL UFT Officers – Reps and Chapt Leaders HS

·         TL UFT Officers – Reps and Chapt Leaders CW
