All-City High School Music Program

CHORUS | ORCHESTRA | CONCERT BAND | MARCHING BAND | JAZZ ENSEMBLE

The All-City High School music ensembles are important and highly regarded components of the Department of Education's arts offerings. Free and open by audition to all New York City public school, 9-12th grade music students, the program provides opportunities for membership in the All-City H.S. Chorus, Orchestra, Concert Band, Marching Band, or Jazz Ensemble. Each ensemble is led by a separate team of highly experienced DOE music teachers who provide small-group coaching and musical leadership.

After passing a brief audition, students attend weekly, 3 & 1/2 hour rehearsals in preparation for a joint, culminating concert in the spring. As a result of membership in the All-City HS ensembles, students are able to apply the acquired musical and social skills in myriad ways, beyond the scope of the program.
