The Mac in the Art Room Project is a pilot program instituted
in March 2005 and sponsored by Bank of America. Thirty-one New
York City visual art teachers from across the city were chosen
to receive an iMac G5 computer for their classroom, along with
a Lexmark color laser printer, Canon digital still camera, Epson
flatbed scanner, and InFocus projector. Teachers were selected
for the project based on their range of experience with computer
technology and previous success in the classroom, and then trained
on Macintosh software at the Apple Store SoHo in April 2005.
In August 2005, Mac in the Art Room Project Teachers were trained
in Adobe Creative Suite software by digital diva Amy Beth McNeely.
The training was a success—which was evident at the end-of-the-school-year
meeting held at the Tweed Courthouse in June 2006. Teachers presented
the work their students created with Mac in the Art Room Project
equipment. The work ranged from digital photography and video
to slideshows and a yearbook published in-house.
We are pleased to announce the new Mac in the Art Room Project
