P.S. Art 2015: Celebrating the Creative SPirit of NYC KIDS
More than a competition... an opportunity to expand our visual arts community

P.S. Art annually acknowledges outstanding artwork in grades PreK to 12 through an exhibition and catalogue. The New York City Department of Education and Studio in a School convene panels of artists, arts professionals and art educators to serve in two rounds of judging. Final selections highlight outstanding artwork of our students and exemplary practices of their teachers as they relate to the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Visual Arts.

CALL FOR STUDENT ARTWORK FOR P.S. ART 2015
Submission Deadline: February 23, 2015

The Office of Arts and Special Projects and Studio in a School invite all schools to nominate up to four pieces of outstanding student artwork (see guidelines for exceptions) to be considered for the 13th annual citywide exhibition P.S. Art: Celebrating the Creative Spirit of NYC Kids. Approximately 80 works will be selected for the exhibition, to open in mid June and remain on view for at least two months at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. An accompanying catalogue will be published.

All pieces being submitted must be registered online by February 23, 2015.

 

FREE Professional Development Opportunity in Support of P.S. Art 2015
Registration Deadline: Monday, December 22, 2014 at 5:00PM.

On Wednesday, January 7th, there will be a FREE full-day of professional development at a major art institution.  This event will focus on looking at, analyzing, and discussing sample student artwork Pre K – 12. There will be ample time for exploring museum galleries. 
This workshop is a collaboration between the Office of Arts and Special Projects and Studio in a School who is most generously funding this event.

Eligibility:  To be eligible to register, teachers must fall into one of these categories:     

1. Those who never submitted work into P.S. Art
2. Past contributors to P.S. Art whose students’ work only reached the semi-finals, and
     thus was never exhibited in the P.S. Art exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art 
3. New visual arts teachers

P.S. Art 2014 ExhibiTION
 
This year, a total of 77 pieces of student artwork, representing the work of 106 students, were selected for exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. They are now on view at the Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education through August 24th. A slideshow of the student artwork is available on the Museum's website.

We would like to recognize the accomplishments of all the students and teachers whose entries were selected from 890 submissions to the semi-final round. STUDIO IN A SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS


All high school seniors whose work was selected for the P.S. Art 2014 exhibition received a financial award of $1,500 for their education at an accredited professional school or college.

All students in grades 7-12 who submitted work for P.S. Art 2014 were offered the opportunity to register for FREE art
classes at Studio in a School’s popular Teen Program, offering workshops in painting, drawing, digital photography and
printmaking and led by professional STUDIO artists.
