This first New York City edition of the New Standard™ Performance
Standards for English Language Arts was developed under the leadership
of Judith A. Rizzo, Ed. D., Deputy Chancellor for Instruction. The project
was completed through the joint efforts of the Office of Program Development
and Dissemination, William P. Casey, Chief Executive, and the Office of
School Programs and Student Support Services, Margaret R. Harrington,
Ed. D., Chief Executive. Judith Chin, Executive Director, Division of
Instructional Support, supervised the production of this edition in collaboration
