Mr. Markowitz made me feel so special and so smart. I was literally filled with joy every day on the way to school and all day during his class. He knew how to make me, and the entire class, laugh. I had so many friends - there was not one person I did not get along with. I played kickball during recess. I was simply so happy. I also learned a lot. I remember his lesson plan on long division. He said it was going to look hard, but that we could do it. He was sometimes just a stand up comedian. He helped me with my science project (how roots grow into seeds), when I panicked in front of the room. I really do love this man for giving me the best 5th grade experience ever. One day, I will make my way back to Staten Island, and say ‘hi.’ Thank you, Mr. Markowitz for your love, faith, encouragement and belief in me. Never in my whole life did I feel so strong, so confident, so able to do anything I wanted to do.
